[ This one has Yukio settled under a tree today. His attention is focused on a brand new badge which he holds up to the sunlight -- his second so far. It took a while to get but here it was and it seemed to be worth it. In the background, his houndoom's taking a nap in the sun with his Happiny curled up next to him. ]

Everyone's more or less started going after badges at least once during their stay here, right? I'm just a little curious as to why. Personal reasons? Motivation?

[ He'll just take a while to polish off that badge before settling back down against the tree trunk. Pardon him. Someone's feeling a bit philosophical today. ]

Also, I'd like to know if there's any place to get somewhere to put these badges. If anyone's making them, I'd like to go about ordering one.

[ Argh, these little blips he makes on the network. So hard to end them so... have a hasty little awkward smile. ]

[ Wow, sometimes he needs this childlike enthusiasm sometimes. It's a nice kick in the reality checker. ]

I... I guess it is. My pokemon seem to enjoy themselves, at any rate.

See? S'long as you and your Pokemon are having fun, then that just makes getting badges even greater!

[ Yup. That might be useful along the line. ]

At first, I thought it seemed a little cruel but over time, I've noticed that some of my pokemon start to see it as a game. I guess it can't be all that bad if that's how they see it.

[Jimmy nods in agreement.]

I was a little worried about it too, but with the Pokemon Centers and all, it's like nothing too bad can ever really happen, yaknow?

[Death isn't at all permanent, at least...much like back home.]

That's true, too. But I've had to compensate a few times. The pokemon center can only do so much when it comes to treating trainers.

[Jimmy nods at that.]

Yeah...I haven't actually really gotten hurt yet or anything- knock on wood.

[He chuckles briefly before continuing.]

Mostly got my team to thank for that, though.

They're pretty good at keeping us safe, huh?

[ And he can't help but chuckle a bit. ]

Especially when they get attached.

They sure are!

[Just as Jimmy says that, the orange muzzle of a Houndoom nudges at his hand with a low growl. You better be thankful, child, he saved your butt from being seriously burned once already. Jimmy just smiles, petting the Houndoom atop his head and behind his horns.]

I dunno what I'd do without them, to tell you the truth.

Same here. I could name a few times when they've looked out for me while we were on the road.

[ What is it with houndooms and being protective of their owners? He can't help but glance back at his own who seems to crack an eye open from where he's napping to wave his tail slowly before going back to sleep. ]

Can't count how many times Shiva's gotten me out of a bind.

[They're loyal to a fault, that's for certain.]

If you think about it, this place would probably be super dangerous without Pokemon with you, don't you think?

[ They make the best guard dogs. ]

It probably would. Or at least it would be if all pokemon were wild. With those we're able to breed or capture, we stand some kind of protection.

[Jimmy nods in agreement before continuing.]

It's Yukio. Yukio Okumura.

[ There's a more relaxed smile there though. He's getting used to this talking to people thing. ]

[ Gosh Jimmy's infectious. ]

I guess my pokemon and I will see you around sometime?

[Isn't he just.]

Aha yeah, of course! Good luck with getting the rest of the gym badges, too!

[ In a good way! ]

You too. Maybe we'll meet up at one of the gyms someday, who knows? Looks like we've got a long trip ahead.

Yeah! I hope we do!
